Brutal Murder of a Worker: Protesters stage sit-ins in Tharparkar

MNA Malani says he will get cancelled the pre-arrest bail of accused guards; Federal govt.’s Fact-Finding Mission will also visit Tharparkar on Wednesday

Mithi: A large number of people of Bheel community including men, women and children staged demonstrations at Islamkot and Mithi on Sunday to lodge protest against the murder of a worker Dodo Bheel by the security guards of a private security company reportedly hired by Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company.

Dodo Bheel, resident of village Aban Jo Tarr, was beaten to death by the security guards in an alleged theft case.

A big rally was taken out by the Bheel community in Islamkot who staged sit-in at the Mithi-Islamkot road and announced to continue sit-in for indefinite period. The parents and relatives of the deceased worker and the social and political organizations’ representatives also took part in the rally and sit-in.

The protesters chanted slogans and demanded immediate arrest of the real culprits involved in the murder. They also demanded removal of SSP Tharparkar.

Meanwhile, in Mithi, the activists of BIF, Jamat-e-Islami, Awami Tehreek, STP, Qaumi Awami Tehreek, PTI and the members of traders’ association and representatives of civil society staged demonstration and sit-in and demanded the arrest of accused security guards nominated in the FIR besides taking action against the administration.

According to them, the SSP Tharparkar had also assured arresting the accused guards within 24 hours but he too failed to so.

Lajpat Sorani, Subhan Samejo, Mir Muhammad Buledi, Ashiq Bajer, Gomu Mal Bheel, Ghansham Malhi, Shahnawaz Hingorjo, Saeendad Hingorjo, Akbar Dars, Kamlesh Kela and others warned of spreading the scope of movement if the real culprits were not arrested and taken to task.

Meanwhile, the police had claimed in a press release issued last night that eight security guards of a private company have been taken into custody but the accused nominated in the FIR have secured pre-arrest bail from the court.

Brutal Murder of a Worker-Protest-Tharparkar-Sindh-Courier-3MNA Dr. Mahesh Kumar Malani, who is general secretary of ruling PPP’s Mirpurkhas Division chapter, in a statement while condemning the brutal murder of a worker Dodo Bheel, said in a statement that every possible effort would be made to get cancelled the pre-arrest bail of the accused guards. He also assured of extending every possible help and compensation to the family of deceased Dodo Bheel.

On the other hand, the federal government too has taken notice of the murder of Dodo Bheel. Federal Minister for Human Rights Sheerin Mazari has directed the Parliamentary Secretary for Human Rights MNA Lal Malhi to constitute a fact-finding mission consisting of some journalists and civil society members. The mission, led by MNA Malhi, will visit the area on Wednesday and hold the meetings with district administration, officials of Thar Coal Block-2 administration, local people, journalists and the heirs of deceased Dodo Bheel.
