Future Movement – Poetry from India

There could be no link between events,

Yet one event is linked with another, link

Independence with country’s partition,

Rape loot arson with names of leaders

Who fought for freedom from prisons

And streets or abstaining family comfort.

Independence with country’s partition,

Rape loot arson with names of leaders

Men were asked to sit in a posture, then

To stand till asked to walk out into open,

Start running at a curve to bend before

A man up on a pedestal and he said

He was one who like them suffered and

Now stood as a hero to usher good days.

He was there to annul decades of time

All the endeavours as a planned effort

To loot and deny the common collective

As if those who got power with partition

Were as guilty as a band of traitors and

Now only the people had real freedom

Narratives clash and trolls do proliferate

Till such time till you put down internet,

Rumours travel at a snail’s pace and

Protests get lashed by water cannons,

Processions pulverized by baton charge:

Officials claim there’s no threat to peace.
