Jakarta
The Indonesian Journalists and Writers Association (PPWI) is preparing to organize the International Peace Conference in Bandar Lampung, Indonesia, on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, coinciding with the 19th anniversary of the association’s founding. The event will highlight the role of media in promoting peace, justice, and humanitarian values.
The conference is being organized under the vision of PPWI Chairman Dr. Wilson Lalengke and his deputy, Abdulrahman Salem Mahmoud Dabboussi, under the theme “Strengthening Global Media for Peace, Justice, and a Sustainable Future.” The initiative aims to expand international media cooperation and strengthen the contribution of journalists to addressing humanitarian issues.
According to information released by the organizers, the conference, seminar, and exhibition are scheduled to take place at Emersia Hotel & Resort in Bandar Lampung.
The conference will focus on the role of citizen journalists in promoting peace, justice, and humanity. Its program is expected to bring together international speakers, academics, policymakers, business leaders, and representatives of partner institutions to discuss the contribution of media to building more peaceful and equitable societies, as well as its responsibility in reporting information and addressing issues of global concern.
Abdulrahman Dabboussi, working alongside his international team, his adviser Aziz Al Yahya, and partner institutions, is involved in the conference’s organization, coordination, and international relations. The event carries the slogan “Journalists Connect The World,” emphasizing the importance of communication between media organizations and the exchange of professional experience across borders.
The organizers’ statement also refers to the association’s international engagement, describing it as a petitioner before the Fourth Committee of the United Nations General Assembly during its 80th session. The precise nature of this status and its relationship to the conference require verification against official United Nations records before publication as a confirmed institutional designation.
As part of the preparations, the organizers have announced sponsorship and partnership arrangements for companies, universities, and local and international institutions. These arrangements include digital platform visibility, media advertising, dedicated media coverage, and exhibition booths.
The statement also mentions Firsts Union and its affiliated Union of Continental Readers, chaired by His Eminence Dr. Salem Mahmoud Dabboussi, identified in the statement as the Mufti of Canada.
The conference reflects PPWI’s efforts to strengthen the role of journalism in international discussions on peace, justice, and humanitarian values while expanding cooperation among journalists and media organizations from different countries.
