The World Organization of Writers is going to hold its first global conference at the Nigerian capital Abuja from 4 to 6 April 2024

Poet Margarita Al, President of the World Organization of Writers (WOW), wrote a public invitation to writers and artists to follow the organization’s first global conference, at the Nigerian capital, Abuja, being hosted by the Pan- African Writers Association (PAWA) in cooperation with the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), from 4 to 6 April 2024, on YouTube link.

As part of preparations for the first Congress of the World Organization Of Writers (WOW) which will hold between 4th and 6th April 2024 in Abuja, Nigeria, Dr. Wale Okediran, the Secretary General of the Pan African Writers Association (PAWA) recently paid a courtesy visit to the Director of the Foundation’s Nigerian Office, Dr. Kole Shettima in his Abuja office.

The MacArthur Foundation which has worked in Nigeria for about 30 years, in various areas, supports creative people and effective institutions committed to building a more just, verdant, and peaceful world. As Writers from all over the world gather in Nigeria in a few day time, the WOW looks forwards to a close collaboration with MacArthur Foundation. Above picture shows Dr. Okediran (Rt) presenting a WOW souvenir to Dr. Shettima during the visit.

In preparation for the forthcoming Congress of the World Organization Of Writers (WOW), scheduled for Abuja, Nigeria between April 4th to 6th 2024, the Secretary General also inaugurated the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the event. The above picture showed Dr. Okediran handing over the WOW banner to Dr. Usman Ladipo Akanbi, the President of the Association Of Nigerian Authors (ANA) who is the LOC Chairman. The first ever Congress of the WOW, a new body of International Writers Associations with the theme; WE ARE PEOPLE OF THE SAME PLANET is expected to be attended by Writers, Scholars and Diplomats from more than 20 countries.

In Nigeria, the International Magazine of the Congress of African Journalists (CAJ) devoted its latest issue this month to paving the way for this great, exceptional literary event, which attracts world writers to the heart of Africa. Michael Adeboboye, Editor-in-Chief of the magazine and President of the (CAJ), wrote: The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) will host the creators of the World Writers Organization in Abuja, Nigeria, from April 4 to 6. The Conference of African Journalists (CAJ) in the spirit of camaraderie to the world wishes this to be a successful event and extend a warm welcome in advance.

The World Organization of Writers (WOW), which was officially registered on December 25, 2023, was also founded by the international federation of non-governmental organizations “Association of Eurasian Peoples.” UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, poet Alexandra Ocherova and President of the Literary Council of the Eurasian Peoples’ Council, poet Margarita Ale, aim to unite the creative efforts of writers from all over the world and their social potential in the struggle for the future of the global humanitarian sphere, where culture, literature and traditional spiritual values should It plays a major role in ensuring peace and stability on this planet.

CAJ International Magazine

The Republic of Azerbaijan – and the city of Baku in particular – was the cradle of the idea of this large-scale organization of writers – in 2019, at the literary forum “Creating the Image of the Future Man and the Future Man in Literature”, and the authors and supervisors, Olzhas Suleimenov and Margarita Al, were behind proposing the idea of the organization for the first time and presenting it to participating writers are from 52 countries around the world. Then, on February 2, 2023, in Egypt, writers representing 17 countries, in Cairo, with the participation of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Alexandra Ocherova, signed the memorandum establishing the World Organization Writers and decided to locate its headquarters in Moscow.

The Silk Road Literature Series, I founded  8 years ago, is participating in this event, with a collection of publications, including the Silk Road Anthology (Nano Poems for Africa), and the collection “Russian Cosmicism” by  Alexandra Ocherova.

WOW-5So far, writers from 69 countries have expressed their willingness to join WOW, and the timing of their WOW joining ceremony will coincide with the opening of the first congress of this international non-governmental organization. This serves as an important signal to the entire world literary community of the importance of the World Writers Organization, which is gaining strength and opening new horizons in the development of the international humanitarian field, supporting young talented authors, deepening relations between literary communities in countries and continents, and a system of rewards and promotion of literary talent, including the awarding of new prestigious literary prizes, will enhance the spiritual, cultural and intellectual potential of the world’s civil society.
