Lines of Love – Poetry from China

So much love I cannot utter for you

I have woven into lines

My only wish

That they, as poems

May attain immortality.

Lines of Love

So much love I cannot utter for you

I have woven into lines

My only wish

That they, as poems

May attain immortality.

I have imagined such a scene

An autumn dusk

Under the lingering sunset glow

You hold them and read in quiet

Then suddenly you light upon

A line that stirs your temple hair

And blushes your cheeks

That is all my intent.

The love between us

No longer needs words

To speak

For my

Brief life

Can never compare

To your long youth.

______

Perspective

An afternoon tabby cat

Quietly lost in thought behind the window lattice

Out of curiosity

I lean down and bend closer

To look out through its gaze

I see the trees glowing golden, and read winter’s palette

It keeps its eyes locked on birds flitting among twigs

Calculating its next meal

It turns out that even standing before the same scenery

Each soul perceives a wholly separate world

The finest way for people to abide together

Respect each other, disturb nothing, and understand without a word

_______

Wish the vast starry sky enfold me

There is always a place in life

That captures your heart at first sight, never to fade away

It may be because of someone

Or perhaps there

You meet a self you have never known

Just as I cannot forget

Each blooming white cloud upon the snow peaks of Shigatse

I often dream of them drifting above my head

When within reach, I always long to ride upon them

No more wandering the world ever after

This place is the very center of the world

I said to her

It is a place worth visiting countless times

For it, my heart is often torn away from myself

If I could, I would leave my body behind

And dwell there for good

Until the vast starry sky enfold me
