In today’s world, where it has become increasingly common for people to discuss gender equality, listening to governmental documentation, services, and official papers is often a crucial part of life. However, what does gender equality actually mean? What does it look like?

Traditionally, both parents should be equally balanced in their roles within the family. This means that no member of the family should be discriminated against based on gender. However, it also doesn’t mean that the responsibilities and duties of family life should be differentiated based on whether they are assigned to women or men. Today, people, especially women, are truly concerned about the concept of gender equality, their personal duties, and are often overwhelmed by the idea of being equal to men in society. For instance, saying that one’s husband must wash one cup while his partner washes the spoons can be an example of how people represent the gender equality. But they may not realize that they have access to opportunities like studying for a master’s degree for free, while men often have to make arrangements or pay for it themselves.

Nevertheless, gender equality is not about focusing solely on small familial duties that must be accomplished by parents. The core idea of gender equality lies in its power within the community, especially when it comes to work opportunities, educational matters, and personal development. For example, if someone wants to pursue their studies, the government must ensure equal opportunities for both genders.
