Today I’m Going Home
A strange feeling tears my heart apart,
My eyes shine with joy and delight.
Even sleep seems forbidden tonight—
Because today, I’m going home, a dream taking flight.
Nothing can contain my heart this hour,
Though the road is long and full of strain,
Its end is sweet, a healing power—
The love of parents, easing all pain.
With watchful eyes, they wait for me there,
They’ll run to meet me, arms open wide.
“Today our child is coming,” they declare,
Laying carpets beneath my feet with pride.

God willing, one day I will reap a headscarf
A trembling voice lived in my heart,
Tears still flicker in my eyes
Perhaps my sincerity is so low
I will strike this sinful soul again.
Forgive me, Your weak servant,
My Lord,
I could not perform Your obligatory act on time
This thought that tormented my whole body
My path is illuminated by recitation and remembrance.
I could not reach the end of my thought,
I did not believe that I was a slave to my soul
Even at night, I could not wake up in the dark and ask for Tahajjud.
In sha Allah, my sincere intention remained,
Of course, I will become a Muslim girl, O Allah,
I will go to the market and choose a white silk headscarf
My intercessory hijab that shines light on my head.
