Lorca and I!

After centuries,

*Lorca, your soul

Has returned within me!

You created the beauty of Spain in poetry,

I weave the natural colors of Thar

Into my verse!

The tunes of the shepherds

Give rhythm to my poetry.

The stretching of the Pleiades, the twinkling of Orion,

The turning of the pulley over deep wells,

The journey of the water-carrying maidens,

The tears of thirsty eyes,

The calls of the peacocks,

The reflections of gazelle-eyes,

The burning of feet among salty Khabhar bushes,

The longing for the swaying ear of millet,

The desire for monsoon rain,

The aspirations of lightning flashes in the northeastern sky—

These are the themes of my poetry.

Footnote:

Lorca: A beloved poet of Spain whose poetry was inspired by the songs of the Spanish Gypsy people.

Sindhi Version
