Sindhyani Tehreek, a women wing of Awami Tehreek, has announced that a grand rally against anti-Sindh federal projects including the six new canals, increasing lawlessness, land grabbing in the province in the name of corporate farming, and the reign of dacoits will be held in Sukkur on December 22.
The central president of Sindhyani Tehreek, Umra Samoon, along with Maah Noor Mallah, Advocate Sorath Manghanhar, Rehana Baloch, and Sindhu Buphar, addressed a press conference at the Sukkur Press Club.
They stated that the ruling elite of Punjab has been forcibly occupying the water of the Indus River for the past 150 years. Now, once again, amendments to the IRSA Act are being made to build six new canals from the Indus River, implementing a heinous plan to destroy agriculture and life of millions of humans, animals in Sindh.
The federal government, with the facilitation of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), is making decisions against smaller provinces, particularly Sindh, which poses a grave threat to the country’s integrity, they said adding that the people of Sindh will never accept the federal government’s coercive decisions.
“Blocking the flow of the Indus River is an international crime, and by constructing the six new canals from the Indus, the federal government is committing a global offense. Halting the flow of the Indus River is pushing the region towards environmental catastrophe. The lack of water in the delta has inflicted irreparable damage on the economy of Sindh and the entire country. Those destroying the Indus River are enemies of the nation, and the rulers introducing new canal and dam projects are agents of foreign companies.”
“The people of Sindh want to convey to the federal government that the Indus River is not the property of the PPP or any government; it is the collective asset of the Sindhi nation. The Indus River is the creator of Sindh’s civilization, and the people of Sindh will never tolerate the sale of their river.”
They further added that under corporate farming and Green Pakistan projects, 4.8 million acres of land are being handed over to foreign investors. To provide water from the Indus River to these foreign investors, amendments to the IRSA Act are being made. The leaders also said that to plunder Sindh’s resources, a reign of dacoits and terrorists has been established in Sindh.

In Gulshan-e-Hadeed, laborer Zahid Mehrani was murdered in broad daylight, but the Chief Minister of Sindh has not taken notice of this brutal killing. Instead of ensuring the safety of the lives and property of the people of Sindh, the Sindh government is busy protecting criminals. They held the Sindh government responsible for Zahid Mehrani’s murder, stating that it has imposed foreign terrorists upon the Sindhi people.
The leaders accused the Sindh government of turning Sukkur Division into a safe haven for dacoits and criminals. The kidnapping-for-ransom industry has been established in the Sukkur Division. In northern districts of Sindh, dacoits are being provided with weapons under official patronage, while the police, instead of arresting dacoits and murderers, are harassing honorable citizens. In tribal gatherings, declaring women “Kari” (blackened) and killing them has become routine.
They also highlighted that young people in Sindh are being deprived of employment opportunities in companies, extracting mineral resources from Sukkur, Kashmore-Kandhkot, Ghotki, Khairpur, and other districts. The illegal occupation of historical sites like Aror and Bakkar Fort must be ended, the demanded.
