I had an overpowering feeling

That the land on which

I came for a walk

Belonged to a farmer

Only he did not mind my steps on his land

It was kind of him perhaps because he knew

I am here only for a minutes few

And would be gone

By the time dry turns the dew.

How impermanent everything was

I was thankful to the farmer

Who let me stay

Here for a while

On this farmland visited by

Sunlight and winds and trees

And some birds too who chirped

And lent thy poet a hundred thoughts

To weave magic with emotions and words.

For a moment a thought came

Did this farm belong to the farmer?

Was it a part of his body?

Oh…it belonged to the earth

And this earth belonged

To the invisible farmer

Who owns this sunlight

As well as these winds, these vines,

And these fruit, clinging to them.

I looked around with a grateful gaze

Everywhere looked like a silent sage

I took no time to realize

What was often said by the wise

How everything belongs to Him.

Even I who am here to serve Him

I am thy poet of O Muse

The revelations

That come I can’t refuse.
