The Present – A poem from Bengal

I never cross the ocean of your planet again; let me feel my precious will that I regain; I’m not there before — I’ll never come here after; within her deep dark eyes, you know, I live forever.

The Present

Don’t know whether I was here before

But know never come after

The span I’m in your blue

Let me enjoy blues in bahar

Let me know your forgotten fear

Let me fire his dump love

Let me set free her silvery dove

Let me love!

Let me love his broken heart

Let me kindle her passionate art

Let me feel your defense again

Forgotten desire to build heaven

Protected by our golden gate

Until you fear your love to hate

I never cross the ocean of your planet again

Let me feel my precious will that I regain

I’m not there before — I’ll never come here after

Within her deep dark eyes, you know, I live forever.
