THE WAR OF SUPREMACY BETWEEN THE BENIGN AND THE MALIGNANT UNIVERSE

God’s Universe is benign. Man’s world is a malignant world, bred on hatred, jealousy, and aggression. There appears to be a war of supremacy between the two worlds

Dr. Jernail S. Anand

Sometimes I wonder why it was only man’s world that witnessed great wars like Troy, the Mahabharata and the Ramayana war against Ravana. I have yet to read a scripture which might tell of such deadly and devastating wars between the animals and birds or even winds and waters. The universe has been free from such cataclysms whereas the earth has witnessed bloodshed at a very high scale. Men, born to this earth, are so ferocious, that they easily lose their head, draw out swords and reach the battle field, to square it up with their adversaries. This is the only way to prove you are right. Therefore, they established huge industries to make swords and bombs.   Here, I will like to refer to the world of nature in which planets are set in their own orbit, and they do not come into clash with other planets. They have their own way, in which they are moving since times immemorial. There are no mood swings either. If eclipses take place, it is just natural phenomenon.

There appears to be a war of supremacy between the two worlds: the world that gods created and the world that men have created. Behind the original world, it was god’s vision which was at work. And, the idea was to create a superstructure in which his men could live, and peacefully too. The cosmic patterning of the universe is docile to man’s being, and weathers change, in order to give him different kinds of fruit, so as to make his life a delicious experience. As such, in their creation, there was harmony. The planets were instructed not to transgress their routes, so that peace prevailed in the cosmos. Winds, waters, mountains – they stand where they stand, and, with sun and the moon, following their diurnal course, it was a world in perfect order.

Knowledge: The Dangerous Potion

Man’s love for the apple created issues. Knowledge started opening its arms. The first thing that happened to man was the loss of innocence. With it, came a healthy and then, it turned unhealthy, ambition to know the secrets governing the earth and the sky. Men have gone on, and now, their overtures are irritating the winds and the waters too. We know too well how desperate are the mountains and how clouds burst in anger, how mountains melt and flow into living habitations.

I am trying to explore the reasons why nature’s world is at peace. There are no world wars, no Mahabharatas in nature, whereas there is so much of turmoil in man’s world. If man is moving away from nature, and acquiring artificial intelligence, does it mean God’s creation was found lacking in certain aspects, that men started creating their own universe of science and technology?

The original universe was meant to give peace and tranquility to mankind. And in those times, great books were written by Rishis. If great souls and Prophets came to the world, it was to reinforce the reign of gods, and pull men out of the morass of ignorance [misdirected knowledge too is ignorance]  and put them on the path of eternal wisdom. Every holy book underlines one message: that what happens is finally the writ of fate and the will of gods. Milton was trying to justify the ways of God to man. In my satire, ‘Lustus: The Prince of Darkness’, the corporate antagonist Lustus tries to justify ways of man to God but comes to grief. The world in which nature predominates, produced a great fund of peace and tranquility, and it was possible for men to produce great books like Upanishads.

The Alternate Kingdom

But, time is flowing fast and we are rushing away from those times of peace and tranquility. We are ‘working hard’ day and night to banish these ‘nasty’ things from human life. Man is ambition-bound to know more and more and create more and more things which give him comfort and power. Man is obsessed with knowledge and he has seen how his scientific advancements have given him great power over other men, and nature. He is the King of the Alternate Universe. In fact, it appears some times, the real adversary of God, in modern times, is not Satan, but man whose prototype is Lustus.

There is peace and tranquility in God’s universe, and constant warfare in the world of men.

But in spite of the deadly accuracy and precision of his contrivances, it appears he has fumbled in the handling of the empire.  If we compare man, the creator of a techno empire, with God, the creator of the Universe, the former stands nowhere. And that is the reason why, there is peace and tranquility in God’s universe, and constant warfare in the world of men. Certainly because he is a lesser artist, and because he is just trying to imitate. Imitations can never be the first hand creations. Satan too, in ‘The Paradise Lost’ craves for God’s powers, and today, Man, who is represented by Lustus, is trying to create a universe of science and technology, which is remote-controlled by him. Gods too use the remote control, but man has not yet succeeded in controlling everything. There are certain areas which still fox his understanding.

aggression-psychopathy-behavior-neurosicenceThe Benign versus the Malignant Universe

Another difference between the two worlds is: God’s Universe is benign. It is meant to create opportunities and good living conditions for man. In spite of man’s unruly behavior, gods have not put him on the gone list, nor left him to his fate. On the other hand, Man’s world is a malignant world, bred on hatred, jealousy, and aggression. How can such a world compare with the grand creation of God?

Conclusion

Can we ever imagine man can take a U-turn, and return to the God’s world of Peace and Tranquility? Can he shun science and technology? These questions seem to be symptomatic of daydreaming. It is simply not possible for man, to change the track now, and return to God’s protected universe. He will go on, till he himself disintegrates, and with him, his empire too. But, before that, he will inflict lots and lots of pain and destruction of himself, as well as on the innocent denizens of nature. The main reason is: man has learnt a thousand things, but he has lost his faith in God’s benignity. His success has gone to his head, and he does not listen, nor pick, the divine signals whenever he makes wrong decisions. Therefore, he is on the downslide, in a vehicle, whose brakes have failed, and his journey, however grand, will end in smoke.
