The International Criminal Court must conduct an investigation and bring charges against the Taliban for violating the rights of Afghan women and girls, according to the UN Special Envoy for Global Education, Voice of America radio reports.

Brown, who served as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 2007 to 2010, made this statement on the second anniversary of the Taliban’s seizure of power in Afghanistan.

He mentioned being in contact with the ICC and sending the legal assessment to the court officials in The Hague, urging the court to conduct an investigation and hold those responsible accountable.
