The Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry of Japan has signed memorandums of cooperation on decarbonization with the governments of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, Orient.tm reports.
According to the agreements, Japan will supply energy-saving and renewable energy technologies to the two Central Asian countries.
On January 9, the Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry of Japan conducted online meetings with the energy ministers of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, assuring them of Japan’s commitment to strengthening ties with the Central Asian region to support energy transition and industrial development.
It is expected that the Japanese ministry will sign similar documents with Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan, primarily to assist companies in collaborating on wind energy projects and improving the efficiency of power generation.
The topic of alternative energy was also addressed at the Uzbek-Japanese Business Forum held in Tashkent on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
