Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Bux Mahar distributed prizes among the Malh Pahlwans (Wrestlers) at the third and last day of Malakhrro, the traditional Sindhi wrestling competitions, held at Malakhrro Ground, on the occasion of 3-day 281st annual festival of great poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai at Bhit Shah, district Matiari, Sindh province of Pakistan on August 23, 2024.

Malakhrro-Sindh Courier-4Malakhrro-Sindh Courier-5A number of Malh Pahlwans including Rahi Tagar, Mubarak Mallah, Fida Khan, Habibullah, Hakim Kosh, Oshaq Shani, Wahid Kori, Moosa Bihan, Usman Chachar, Gul Hassan Chandio and others participated in last day competition.

Minister distributed cash prizes and shields among the wrestlers showing best performance. He assured of resolving issues faced by the traditional Malh Pahlwans of Sindh.

Malakhrro, an ancient Sindhi form of wrestling in Sindh, dates back 5000 years. The match begins with both wrestlers tying a twisted cloth around the opponent’s waist. Each one then holds onto the opponent’s waist cloth and tries to throw him to the ground. Malakhrro is one of the favorite sports among males in Sindh. Malakhrro matches are generally held on holidays and are a feature of all fairs and festivals.
