Paper Boats – A Poem from Pakistan

To a child it’s austere belonging,

Paper Boats are but a divine thing,

Every cloud has a silver lining.

To float boats what may bring,

During the summer or the spring.

To a child it’s austere belonging,

Paper Boats are but a divine thing,

Every cloud has a silver lining.

To float boats what may bring,

During the summer or the spring.

To set their boats on a watery trail,

And so the children with paper set sail.

These boats are their best friends,

Turning and twisting through the bends.

A piece of paper folded and neat,

Origami made from a foolscap sheet.

A wonder to children and adults a joy,

A symbol of innocence is that classic toy.

We fold the boats with our dreams,

And set them afloat in the streams.

And in our heart’s they will stay forever,

The soul of the child is simply clever.

The simple idea of the child is to be a goat,

To clarify every comma, full stop that life holds.
