The Light of Betrayal
Some people enter like sunshine
Into your life…
Give you a sigh of relief.
After the darkest hours,
When loneliness chills your soul
In cold and dead darkness.
When you crave light,
And only fear whispers in your ear,
Hoping, like a child, to be loved and heard.
A shoulder to support and carry your heart,
They arrive,
Like the first rays of the sun,
Bringing warmth and solace.
They become the resonator of life,
Giving a thousand reasons to live again,
Sparking hope for new beginnings.
You cherish each moment with them,
Loving as the sea loves its shore.
You feel life awaken within you.
But then,
That soothing sun turns scorching.
The warmth burns your skin,
The brightness blinds you,
And now the comfort exhausts you,
Like sweating under an unforgiving sun.
Tears fill your eyes.
The shelter you once sought
Becomes the most insecure place.
The hope once cherished
Turns into heavy grief and hopelessness.
The pain you hold now,
You regret ever wishing for that sunshine,
Now burning and searing you.
The scars, vivid, raw, and unhealed,
Deepen into wounds that time can never sooth,
Marking your skin like a painful memory,
Unfading, relentless, like sunburn.
An unyielding shadow, etched into my soul.
No remedy cures this ache;
As the heart resists healing.
That sunshine I once wished for
Became the exposure I dreaded,
Leaving me longing for the darkness I once feared.
