Sindh Govt. is trying hard to make women survivors of violence socio-economically dignified in the society – Minister Women Development

Islamabad

Sindh Women Development Department in collaboration with Rozan, a non-government organization, organized a meeting at a local hotel on Friday to discuss the policy on “Improving Post-Shelter Lives of Women Survivors of Violence”.

Sindh Women Development Minister Syeda Shehla Raza, who attended the meeting, said that violence against women on the basis of gender is not acceptable in any way. “The policy for improving post-shelter lives of women survivors of violence needs further improvement,” she urged.

The main purpose of meeting was to finalize the post-shelter policy for the socio-economic rehabilitation of women and girls who survived violence, including minority women.

Shehla Raza said that the performance of Sindh Women’s Development Department for solving the problems related to women and girls is far better and satisfactory than other provinces.

“The department has successfully solved dozens of such cases which seemed to be unsolvable, but there is also a role of NGOs that become means of communication between the people and the institution,” she said and added that the project is successfully being implemented in Hyderabad and Sukkur with cooperation of Rozan however the department is trying to correct even the smallest flaw.

She said that as a result of the opinions of the relevant experts, we are trying hard to make such women survivors of violence who have taken shelter in safe places (shelter houses) socio-economically dignified in the society. (PR)
