Sukkur, Sindh
Sindhiyani Tehreek and Awami Tehreek have launched a series of collaborative efforts to address pressing issues facing Sindh, including illegal water allocations, environmental degradation, land grabs, and human rights violations.
Through press conferences, participation in national forums, and large-scale protest campaigns, both organizations aim to unite the people of Sindh to defend their rights and resources.
The leaders of Awami Tehreek Leaders and Sindhiyani Tehreek held separate press conferences here on Sunday to promote Sindhiyani Tehreek’s “Save Sindh Peaceful March” scheduled for December 22, 2024, in Sukkur.
At a press conference at Sukkur Press Club, Awami Tehreek’s Central President Advocate Vasand Thari, along with Advocate Sajid Hussain Mahesar, Dr. Rano Kanhdani, and Ayaz Kalhoro, called for collective action through the “Save Sindh Peaceful March”.
The leaders condemned the illegal construction of six new canals on the Indus River, terming it a direct threat to Sindh’s water rights and agricultural future. Other issues raised included land grabs, lawlessness, and increasing violence against women, including honor killings and forced marriages. Advocate Vasand Thari remarked, “Sindh’s land, water, and resources are the collective heritage of its people. It is our duty to resist all forms of exploitation and oppression.”
The march is a key initiative in Awami Tehreek’s ongoing Awami Awareness Campaign, aiming to unite citizens against injustices and ensure a brighter future for Sindh.
Meanwhile, Sindhyani Tehreek raised Sindh’s Case at Lahore Conference, and vowed to resist government’s decision on 6 canals.

Sindhiyani Tehreek took Sindh’s concerns to the national stage at the “Environmental Justice and a Carbon-Free World” conference organized by the Labor Education Foundation in Lahore. Central leader Ms. Kainat Dahiri and SGST leader Ms. Kiran Bapar presented Sindh’s case against the government’s decision to allocate six canals from the Indus River.
Describing the move as a “death warrant” for Sindh, the leaders highlighted its devastating impact on the province’s water resources, agriculture, and environment. Sindhiyani Tehreek pledged to intensify its movement until the controversial decision is revoked, emphasizing their commitment to environmental justice and the protection of Sindh’s rightful share of water.
Sindhyani Tehreek has intensified protest against government’s anti-Sindh Water and Land Policies.
Building on the success of their recent protest in Karachi, Sindhiyani Tehreek has launched a vigorous awareness campaign across Sukkur, Khairpur, Ghotki, Larkana, and Shikarpur. Meetings with civil society, intellectuals, and lawyers have been held to consolidate support ahead of the Sukkur march.
Leaders, including Umra Samoon, Advocate Mahnoor Mallah, Shama Bhatti, and others, have reached out to women, activists, and journalists through press conferences, handbill distribution, and corner meetings. They have called on citizens from all walks of life to join the December 22 march in Sukkur, stressing that this struggle is about justice, environmental protection, and Sindh’s dignity.
Both Sindhiyani Tehreek and Awami Tehreek urge the government to immediately revoke the illegal allocation of six canals and address the grievances of Sindh’s people. Citizens are invited to participate in the Save Sindh Peaceful March to stand in solidarity for Sindh’s future. (PR)
