Militants of the terrorist group “Wilayat Khorasan” are conducting underground activities in several countries in Asia. This was stated by the head of the political office of the Taliban movement in Qatar, Suheil Shahin, Eurasia Today reports.
He emphasized that the radicals of “Wilayat Khorasan,” which is the Afghan wing of the ISIS terrorist movement, pose a serious threat to security in the region.
Shahin noted that the recent terrorist attack at the “Crocus City” shopping and entertainment center in the Moscow region was carried out by Tajik terrorists recruited through the Telegram channel “Voice of Khorasan.” This bloody act demonstrated the extensive network of terrorists.
Despite the fact that this channel, administered from Afghanistan, has already been removed, its instigators are still at large.
Shahin noted that members of the ISIS-K cell are not necessarily citizens of Afghanistan, as this terrorist structure also covers Pakistan, India, Iran, and Central Asian countries.
Currently, the militants are dispersed across various states in the region, trying to evade persecution, he added.
The Taliban movement, which now governs Afghanistan, declares its firm intention to fight against terrorists and completely eradicate the presence of this group on Afghan territory.
However, its transnational nature and extensive network require the concerted efforts of all countries in the region to counter this terrorist threat.
The tragic events in Russia show that “Wilayat Khorasan” poses a danger not only to Central and South Asia but also to the entire global community. International cooperation is critically important to curb the activities of this ruthless group.
