The students of Sindh Agriculture University observed the day on a boat near Karachi and threw the eggs in the as food for marine creatures.

Students of Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam observed the World Egg Day on October 14 on a boat in Arabian Sea near Karachi, where they threw eggs in the sea as food for the fish and other marine creatures.

The event was organized to make the students aware of the importance of eggs in health and business.

This year’s World Egg Day theme was ‘Eggs for a better life’ to celebrates the incredible egg’s power to support not just human health outcomes, but planetary health and people’s livelihoods too!

World Egg Day was established at Vienna in 1996, when it was decided to celebrate the power of the egg on the second Friday in October each year. Since then, egg fans around the world have thought up new creative ways to honor this incredible nutrient powerhouse, and the day of celebration has grown and evolved over time.

World Egg Day is a brilliant opportunity to make sure everyone in the world knows that eggs are an excellent, affordable source of high-quality nutrition, with the potential to help feed the world.

The Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences of Sindh Agriculture University organized the event which was the first unique event related to Veterinary and Poultry profession, in which the final year students of Faculty of Sindh Agriculture University participated. The group was led by Dr. Azizullah Memon, Assistant Professor Department of Poultry.

Dr. Azizullah Memon, Dr. Imdad Hussain Leghari and others gave important information to the students on the topic of “Importance of Egg for Better Health” on the occasion of World Egg Day.

Addressing the students, Dr. Azizullah Memon and Dr. Imdad Hussain Laghari said that the consumption of eggs has better effects on our daily life and especially on the health of women and children.

They said that many products are made from eggs in the food sector, while eggs are used in medicines and other products, and there is also a very profitable business.

Each student threw eggs in the sea as food for fish and other marine creatures.

Earlier, the students visited different poultry farms to educate the farm owners on how to produce more eggs for the country at a lowest cost.

As the Institute of Food Sciences and Technology, Sindh Agriculture University, annually celebrates “World Food Day”, this year also the Institute and UNFAO are jointly celebrating the day on October 17, 2022, with the theme “Leave No One Behind- Better production, better nutrition, better environment and better life” at Dr. A. M. Shaikh Auditorium. The event will be chaired by Dr. Fateh Marri, Vice Chancellor Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam and attended by Dr. Rubina Wahaj, Provincial Lead FAO Sindh, Dr. Inayatullah Rajpar, Dean FCPD, Dr. Aijaz Hussain Soomro, Director IFST Dr. M. Ismail Kumbhar Director UA&FA and other faculty members of Sindh Agriculture University.

The segments of the occasion will be awareness walk, seminar and inauguration of food product and poster competition of IFST students. (PR)
