It’s deplorable that the govt. didn’t take precautionary measures for safety of people despite Met Office warnings and even no rescue and relief operation was launched timely.
The condition of Sindh province is getting deteriorated day by day due to heavy rainfall. The horrific situation has developed for the people of Sindh with rising death toll, destruction of homes, roads and other infrastructures. The destruction of standing crops have caused losses worth billions of rupees to the growers. The routine life of the people has become paralyzed, as over a million people have become homeless who are living under the open sky. Tens of thousands people are still trapped in flood water. Not only the men and women but children also have suffered a lot. Beside material losses, the torrential rains and flash floods have also destroyed education of the nation, as almost all the schools and colleges are flooded with rain water. The universities too are closed since July and still there is no hope to resume the studies. Similar situation prevails in Balochistan also.
Although Pakistan Meteorological Department had warned the governments and their concerned departments about the heavy rainfall, it’s deplorable that no precautionary action was taken for the safety of the people. Even no rescue and relief measures were taken timely to save the affected people.
No roads were cleared and the rain water continues flooding on the streets of almost every town and city of Sindh. Even the Hyderabad city continues inundated.
Most affected people are farming communities and the daily-wagers who are now faced with terrible situation. The despondency has been spread among the people.
Despite this our system is only focusing on minting money taking benefit of the situation – the traders have increased the rates of everything, and are indulged in their personal interests. The people of Sindh have no hope from government and they are waiting for the mercy of God.
