Crackdown on wheat hoarders launched in Sindh

4000 wheat bags were recovered from Naushehro Feroze, 3000 bags from Dadu and 2000 from Jamshoro districts; operation was carried out jointly by district administration and the food department officials

The joint teams of officials of district administrations and provincial food department launched a massive operation against wheat hoarders in Dadu, Jamshoro and Naushehero Feroze districts on Tuesday morning.

The section of 144 Cr. P.C was already imposed prohibiting the shifting of wheat to other provinces or districts, by Sindh government.

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali has strictly directed the food department and district administrations to complete the wheat procurement target and take actions against hoarders of wheat in Sindh.

“Sindh Chief Secretary Dr. Mohammad Sohail Rajput is monitoring the situation on a daily basis by receiving reports from Commissioners of Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur and Mirpurkhas divisions,” spokesman to Sindh Chief Secretary told on phone from Karachi.

Wheat-Hoarders-Crackdown-Sindh-CourierAccording to the spokesman a joint team of district administration Naushehero Feroze and food officials led by Deputy Commissioner Shahzeb Sheikh, took major action against the wheat hoarders in various towns of district Naushehero Feroze and seized 4000 (four thousand) sacks of wheat from different places.

District Food Controller Naushehro Feroze and Assistant Commissioner also took part in seizing of wheat, stocked illegally.

According to the details, four thousand bags weighing 100 kg each (total 400 tons) of wheat were seized from Mithiani, Kotri Kabir, Halani, and Mehrabpur town and other areas and immediately sent to Karachi for transfer to the government warehouse.

On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Shahzeb Sheikh said that actions will continue against those who hoard wheat and other food items.

Meanwhile, a team of district administration of Dadu, led by Assistant Commissioner Dr. Shahnawaz Mirani and DFC Dadu raided at various places in Dadu city and seized 3000 bags of wheat.

Dr. Shahnawaz Meerani told that they will continue their operation against wheat hoarders in city to complete the wheat target and to end the shortages of wheat and flour.

Likewise, food officials of Jamshoro district along with assistant Commissioner Sehwan raided at various flour mills and atta chakies in Bhan Syedabad town and seized 2000 bags of wheat.
