Sindhi community of Vadodara has requested the Gujarat government to declare public holiday on the same day March 23, as has been announced by Rajasthan

The governments of Gujarat and Rajasthan states of India have declared Public Holiday on the occasion of Cheti Chand, a Sindhi New Year Festival, celebrated as the birthday of Lord Jhulelal.
According to Mr. Haresh Agnani of Vadodara (Baroda), the government of Gujarat has declared the Public Holiday on March 22, 2023 while neighboring Rajasthan state government has announced the Public Holiday on March 23, 2023.
As the Sindhi community desires to celebrate the New Year Festival of Cheti Chand on the same day, the state government of Gujarat has been requested to declare the holiday on March 23, as announced by Rajasthan state.
In this regard, Mr. Haresh Agnani, President, Sujag Sindhi Samiti, Vadodara, Gujarat has requested the Chief Minister of Gujarat through email to change the date of public holiday.
“Public Holiday for Cheti Chand is declared on 22/03/2023 by Government of Gujarat. In fact Cheti Chand (Birthday Day of Lord Jhulelal- Sindhi New Year) will be celebrated by Sindhis of World on 23/03/2023. Hence you are requested to change the declared holiday, as Rajasthan has already declared Public Holiday of Cheti Chand on 23/03/2023,” Haresh Agnani stated in email.
“Secondly examinations of Gujarat Secondary Education Board is also declared from 23/03/2023 hence Sindhi students couldn’t celebrate and enjoy Cheti Chand. So you are requested to shift exams declared on 23/03/2023 to another suitable date,” he further said.
Haresh Agnani hoped that the Chief Minister will understand the sentiments of Sindhi Society and take necessary positive actions as early as possible.
