International Congress To Honor Ganira Pashayeva

Hosted online by the Turkish Academicians Association on September 27–28, 2026, the International Congress titled “Ganira Pashayeva and the Turkic World: Literature, Culture, Politics and the Ideal of Unity” brings together international academics, researchers, and cultural figures to explore her contributions to public service, cultural diplomacy, and the shared future of the Turkic world.

Ganira Pashayeva, an Azerbaijani politician, writer, poet, and intellectual who made significant contributions to the common cultural values, literature, politics, and ideal of unity of the Turkic world, continues to live on through her ideas, works, and efforts devoted to the Turkic world even after her passing. An important international academic event will be held to examine Pashayeva’s political, literary, cultural, and intellectual legacy from a scholarly perspective.

The International Congress titled “Ganira Pashayeva and the Turkic World: Literature, Culture, Politics and the Ideal of Unity,” organized by the Turkish Academicians Association, will be held online on September 27–28, 2026.

The congress aims to examine not only Ganira Pashayeva’s place in Azerbaijan’s political and social life, but also her views on the Turkic world, her literary and cultural works, her parliamentary activities, and her contributions to international relations from the perspectives of different academic disciplines.

Ganira Pashayeva was a prominent figure in Azerbaijani public life, known not only for her political identity and parliamentary activities but also for her work in literature, culture, and the promotion of the common values of the Turkic world.

One of the most distinctive aspects of her activities was that she did not limit politics to institutional and parliamentary work; rather, she also viewed literature, culture, media, education, and relations among peoples within the framework of the common future of the Turkic world.

Pashayeva attached great importance to strengthening cultural and intellectual ties among the different regions of the Turkic world. In this respect, her legacy is significant not only for Azerbaijan but also for the common cultural memory of the Turkic world and its intellectual search for a shared future.

Her poems, books, articles, and cultural activities reveal different dimensions of her literary and intellectual world, while her political and parliamentary activities constitute an important part of her approach to the Turkic world, international relations, and cultural diplomacy.

For this reason, Ganira Pashayeva’s legacy is of relevance to a wide range of academic disciplines, including political science, international relations, diplomacy, literature, culture, communication, education, and social studies.

The main objective of the congress is not merely to commemorate Ganira Pashayeva, but to evaluate her political, literary, cultural, and intellectual legacy on a scholarly basis and to open current issues concerning the Turkic world to discussion from multidisciplinary perspectives.

Within the framework of the congress, particular attention will be given to Ganira Pashayeva’s political identity, public service, parliamentary activities, and vision of the Turkic world, as well as her literary, cultural, and intellectual legacy.

In addition, politics, international relations, diplomacy, literature, culture and cultural heritage, education, science, academic cooperation, media, society, women, and perspectives on the future will constitute the main thematic areas of the congress.

Original, interdisciplinary, and comparative academic studies related to the main theme will also be considered for presentation at the congress.

Open to the participation of academics, researchers, writers, poets, journalists, and representatives of culture and the arts from different countries around the world, the congress also aims to contribute to the development of academic and cultural communication among countries.

Presentations at the congress may be delivered in Turkish, Azerbaijani, or English.

The congress, organized by the Turkish Academicians Association, is intended not only to convey Ganira Pashayeva’s ideas and works to future generations but also to provide an important platform for discussing the common issues of the Turkic world within international academic circles.

In particular, bringing researchers from different countries together on the same academic platform will create opportunities for the comparative examination of the common values of the Turkic world in the fields of literature, culture, politics, diplomacy, and international relations.

In this respect, the congress is intended to be not merely a commemorative event, but also an international gathering aimed at developing new perspectives on scientific thought, cultural diplomacy, academic cooperation, and the common future of the Turkic world.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. İzzettin Özpolat, President of the Turkish Academicians Association, will serve as the Congress Chair, while Prof. Dr. Terane Turan Rehimli, Vice President of the Turkish Academicians Association and Chair of the Commission for International Representations, will serve as the Chair of the Organizing Committee.

Ganira Pashayeva’s political struggle, literary world, cultural activities, and views on the ideal of unity within the Turkic world will be revisited at the international congress to be held on September 27–28, with contributions from scholars from different countries.

In this sense, the congress stands out as an important academic and cultural initiative that aims not only to preserve the memory of Ganira Pashayeva, but also to research, discuss, and transmit her legacy to future generations.
