Peacocks have forgotten their dance

The peacocks have forgotten their dance,

Now that you walk with such grace.

Is that lightning flashing in the rain,

Or have you just smiled?

Your fresh eyes are heavy with intoxication,

Whom have you been meeting?

Congratulations to you in love, my dear,

For you never faltered in your step.

In this vast city, you are the only

True friend of my heart.

Day turned to dusk, evening laid its bed, and you are a night Ralli quilt.

Your poet belongs to Chelhar,

And you are my “Chile.”

Along with the heavy downpours,

You have become uncontainable.

(A poem dedicated to “Chile,” the land of Pablo Neruda)
