People of Sindh,
Now no longer afraid,

O’ Babarloe, Babarloe
People of Sindh,
Now no longer afraid,
Of any prison or police station.
Babarloe, Babarloe
The soil of Sindh,
Has awakened from deep sleep,
In every alley, on every street.
Babarloe, Babarloe
The waters of Sindh,
If we unite,
Even God will be with us.
(Babarloe, a town in Khairpur district, where the people of Sindh have staged historic sit-in against the construction of six controversial canals from Indus River in Punjab)
***
A spark has flown into the belly of the Indus,
If we do not awaken now, know we’ll be ruined—write it down.
You don’t care the water is drying up,
Rather you’r asking me: “Learn to do Tayammum (dry ablution), too.”
You no longer feel fear of hunger or loss,
If you’re cutting your own nose, then sharpen the blade.
If you can no longer protect the honor of your motherland,
Then buy a tablet or medicine of honor, even if it’s cheap or fake.
