Poetry: Showering the Love

A Poem from Thar Desert of Sindh

You began showering your love upon thousands of people,

While we, who desire only you, brought our tears in rows.

Showering the Love

You began showering your love upon thousands of people,

While we, who desire only you, brought our tears in rows.

Whenever your imagination appeared before us,

We brought our restless minds into serenity and peace.

Gathering the pearls of your smiles,

We threaded them and adorned our necklaces.

You yourself did not come, so you did not come,

Yet we turned our hair white while waiting.

You too, like the world, considered us mad,

While we brought unique thoughts into flight.

In the hope that you might arrive with the rainy season,

We brought velvet bugs and left them in the desert thickets.

Sindhi Version
