Larkana Range Police have reportedly planned to establish a private militia of 700 tribesmen hailing from various tribal communities.

In an astonishing move, Sindh Police leadership has decided again to experiment with idea of setting up private tribal force to effectively root out menace of dacoits from crime- infested ‘Katcha’ (Riverine) areas of Upper Sindh including districts of Shikarpur and Kashmore-Kandhkot.
Sources in Police revealed that IGP Sindh Mushtaq Mahar in his recent three- day visit of Sukkur also reviewed progress of operation against dacoits in Larkana Range and expressed dissatisfaction over lack of action against criminals that had attacked newly-established Police Station Garhi Tegho in which one policeman was killed and two others had sustained serious injuries.
Sources shared that in that meeting various options such as taking assistance from Army and other Law- Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) for operation were also considered.
Sources further disclosed that IGP Sindh has tasked DIGP Larkana Mazhar Nawaz Sheikh to ensure complete elimination of the criminals to bring zero-crime rate including kidnapping for ransom, highway robbery and other crimes in Larkana range and in this regard has directed DIGP Larkana to set up private force comprising different influential tribal communities.
Local sources privy to the development affirmed that Larkana Range Police have planned to establish a private militia of 700 tribesmen hailing from various tribal communities and in this regard SSP Shikarpur Tanveer Hussain Tunio recently held meetings with Chieftain Sardar Tegho Khan Teghani at his residence. The chieftains have reportedly agreed to cooperate with Police authorities in this regard.
Some lower ranks of Police were perplexed at the move as same IGP Sindh Mushtaq Mahar last year had shown displeasure over meeting of SSP Kashmore Syed Asad Raza and SSP Shikarpur Kamran Nawaz Panjutha with chieftain Sardar Tegho Khan Teghani for surrender of tribal criminals and issued them explanations over alleged handing of peace award.
Meanwhile, a criminal Sain Bux Teghani allegedly involved in killing of Policemen also surrendered before Shikarpur Police through Sardar Tegho Khan Teghani.
