IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon claims that Sindh police were free from any political interference

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon has said that Katcha (Riverine) Police Force will be established to eliminate criminals.

Speaking to the media at Pano Aqil on Tuesday, he said that the police department is buying vehicles and weapons from the army for operations against the dacoits. “We are bringing modern Armored Personal Carrier vehicles to keep the police safe from any attack.”

He said that Sindh Police Department was striving for more improvement in the law and order situation in the province especially in the riverine areas. “The police are convincing the people residing in the Katcha areas to play a watchman role.”

IGP said, “We are determined to create a riverine police force in different districts of Sindh with special allowance to the youths to eliminate the dacoits.”

IGP said that he had written a letter to the government of Sindh for the purchase of modern weapons. “The idea that every vehicle can withstand an attack with heavy weapons is wrong,” he however viewed.

To a question, he said, “Action will be taken against the abductors of journalists according to the law.”

Meanwhile, speaking to the media in Tangwani, IGP Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon further said that that 67 criminals have been killed by the police during the last five months in the four districts including Kashmore, Shikarpur, Jacobabad and Larkana.

He said that the police have also arrested 69 criminal in injured condition and another 301 arrested in encounters.

“Sindh Police have pledged to restore peace and eliminate the criminals,” he said.

On a question, he said that police have recovered the boy Simrat Kumar of Kandhkot and also a paramedic of Khairpur without ransom and added that police were taking all kind of measures to recover the kidnaped persons without ransom.

IGP Sindh visited the house of the martyred policemen Ali Muhammad Malik and Ghulam Nabi Soomro and condoled with the relatives of the martyred personnel. He announced compensation for each martyred, and 02 jobs in police and free education for the children of the martyred policemen.

He said that crime is also reported from the developed countries of world where police use the modern technologies for combating the crime. He said that in developed countries Police were combating the crime with the assistance of the media, and hoped that media will also help Sindh Police in combating the crime.

He claimed that Sindh police were free from any political interference, and added that Sindh government was providing all required resources to the police for maintaining peace in Sindh.

He said that head-money has also been notified for notorious criminals by the Sindh Police.

Meanwhile, SSP Kashmore-Kandhkot Irfan Samoo briefed IGP regarding the law and order situation in Kashmore-Kandhkot. DIG Larkana Mazhar Nawaz Shaikh was also present in the briefing.

How the kidnapped boy Simrat Kumar was recovered

Shikarpur Police recovered the kidnapped Simrat Kumar from the limits of Gharhi Tego.

SSP Shikarpur Amjad Shaikh said that during an operation in Gharhi Tego, Simrat Kumar S/o Ajeet Kumar was recovered in an encounter with criminals and added that five suspects also have been arrested to investigate.

He said that Bhangwar Gang was behind the kidnapping of Simrat Kumar. SSP dismissed that the recovery of boy was under a deal and said that dacoits in the Katcha Area of Gharhi Tegho by seeing the police had fired at police party which retaliated.

SSP Shikarpur handed the boy over to their parents in Kandhkot.

It is to be mentioned that civil society since 09 days continued the strike against the kidnapping and had demanded the safe recovery of the boy.

Sardar Tegho Khan Teghani, known as the King of the Gharhi Tegho, had met the protesters and assured them of sending his people in Katcha area of the Gharhi Tegho to recover the boy.

Chief Justice of Sindh had also taken notice of the abduction of boy and had called for a report from IGP Sindh and district and Session Judge Kashmore-Kandhkot.

Meanwhile, Khairpur Police have failed to recover 06 year boy Jaffar Ali Bhutto who was kidnapped from Hingorja tow some 72 days back. Dacoits have demanded 5 million ransom from his poor parents.
