Vice Chancellor of Sukkur IBA University, Asif Ahmed Shaikh, inaugurated various development projects worth Rs.50 million at the IBA Campus Dadu. The newly inaugurated facilities include a state-of-the-art library, a 200-kilowatt solar power system, and a Foreign Exchange Trade Lab.
The Vice Chancellor was accompanied by former Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq, SANAA’s representative in the USA Iqbal Tareen, Director IBA Dadu Campus Sarfaraz Ahmed Durkin, Associate Professor Computer Science Dr. Gulsheer Ahmed Lund, Professor Business Administration Dr. Basharat Hussain, and Admin Officer Aftab Ahmed Solangi.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor said that the 200-kilowatt solar system was a crucial need of the campus, which would significantly reduce electricity expenses. The saved amount, he added, would be spent on improving educational facilities for students.
He further stated that the new library is equipped with 32 computers, and the university plans to provide even more systems to strengthen the campus’s digital learning environment. The Foreign Exchange Trade Lab, linked with the Karachi Stock Exchange, will help business administration students learn practical skills in trading and international business operations.
The Vice Chancellor noted that previously, the five sub-campuses of IBA lacked an independent budget; however, the Sindh government has now allocated Rs.100 million annually for each campus, enabling significant improvements in facilities. He added that the number of university scholarships has increased from 400 to 700, yet many deserving students still remain without financial support.
In response to questions regarding university status for IBA Dadu Campus, master’s programs, and the express electricity supply, the Vice Chancellor said that the PC-1 has been revised. After receiving Rs.400 million in funds, the campus infrastructure will be upgraded and new faculty members will be hired. Once all facilities are completed, the campus will gradually be elevated to university status. He also stated that an Act will be presented in the Sindh Assembly to convert all IBA campuses across the province into full-fledged universities.
Vice Chancellor also inaugurated a point bus for the student raising the number of point buses to three.
Later, awards were distributed among the students and the staff members.
