Three Mental Health Helplines setup in Karachi and Hyderabad

According to Sindh Mental Health Authority, the people may call on these numbers from 9am to 5pm for help.  

Karachi

Sindh Mental Health Authority (SMHA) has launched three Mental Health Helplines in main cities of the province. The general public from anywhere can now call on helpline numbers from 9am to 5pm for seeking help online.

The Helpline numbers are: 021-111 117 642 and 022- 111 117 642.

The SMHA will run these Helplines in collaboration with partner organizations/stakeholders, said Dr. Karim Khawaja, Chairman SMHA, in a statement on Friday.

According to SMHA, the Helpline 022-111 117 642 has been installed at Sir Cowsji Jahangir Institute of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Hyderabad to run with the help of partners i.e. Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro, Psychology Department, University of Sindh and the Charter for Compassion.

The Helpline 021- 111 117 642 has been installed at Psychiatry Ward, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) Karachi with the help of partners i.e. Institute of Clinical Psychology, University of Karachi, Psychology Department and Charter for Compassion.

The third Helpline with same number (021- 111 117 642) has been installed Psychiatry Ward, Dow University of Health Sciences, Dr. Ruth K. M. Pfau, Civil Hospital Karachi in collaboration with partners i.e. Civil Hospital Karachi, Dow University, University of Karachi’s Psychology Department and Charter for Compassion.

Sindh Mental Health Authority has also created Tele Psychiatry Help at District Tharparkar along with Mithi Civil Hospital and Thar Foundation. (PR)
