Sindhi community of Vadodara celebrate Chaliha Sahib every year in remembrance of Lord Jhulelal

Sindhi community of Vadodara (Baroda) city of Gujarat state of India started on Sunday July 28, 2024, the 40-day celebration of Chaliha Sahib, an annual festival in remembrance of Jhulelal Sahib.
The events of Chaliha Sahib are being held in Vadodara at three places – Karamchandani Hall, Shanidev Mandir and Sant Mata Mayadevi Darbar in the presence of Sain Shehrawala, Mr. Haresh Agnani, an active member of the community told.
He said the celebration will last for 40 days with prayers of Lord Jhulelal. On September 06, 2024 the celebration will conclude with Matki Parvan event at Sindhu Sagar Talav.
Main organizers are Mr. Bhagwan Tahilramani, Mr. Rajesh Manvani, and Mr. Kamlesh Wadhwani.
According to Haresh Agnani, two times Arti and Jhulelal songs will be recited daily in the morning and evening. Approximately 200-250 Sindhis will visit daily while on the last day some 2000-2500 Sindhis will participate in Matki Parvan Program.

Sindhis worship, Lord Jhulelal, and Chaliha is the most important festival for the Sindhi community. Chailo Sahib or Chaliha is a forty-day festival which falls in the months of July – August when Sindhis observe fast for forty days to please their God Jhulelal. They say that there was a Muslim invader Mirkshah Badshah in Sindh who wanted to convert all the people living there to Islam.
