The residents from different villages of Kachho area of Dadu district blocked Johi-Dadu Road on Monday July 29, 2024 to lodge protest against delay in construction work of Johi-Haji khan Road.
The protesters led by a local trader Aqib Khoso, chanted slogan against contractor Faisal Naich for abandoning the construction work for years.
Aqib Khoso said that Johi- Haji Khan Road which connects several big and small villages to Taluka Headquarter Johi and District Dadu remains badly damaged since 2012. He said that due to worst damaged road, the local business and livelihood of the majority has been affected.
Faiz Ahmed Rind, another trader and social activist from Johi said that since Johi-Haji Khan Road has remained dilapidated, the business and livelihood sources of not only of Kachho but that of Johi and Dadu has been affected. He accused that contractor has backing of powerful local leadership of ruling party therefore the contractor is indifferent to the plight of hundreds of thousands of people of Kachho who face hardship in absence of the road. He demanded that construction work on damaged Johi-Haji Khan road should be started forthwith and completed soon.
Another protester Latif Khoso said that traveling from Haji Khan to Johi is very arduous specially for those needing emergency medical aid at Taluka Johi and district Dadu hospitals.
The protesters said that if their demand of starting of the construction work immediately is not met, they would widen their protest by staging sit-in at Indus Highway Dadu.
