Chief Justice of Pakistan should reconsider the reference filed in the Bhutto assassination case – press conference

Karachi

PPP Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto will inaugurate lung transplant project at Gambat Institute of Health Sciences on April 5, 2023.

Spokesperson of the Sindh Government and Advisor for Law Barrister Murtaza Wahab announced this while addressing a press conference on Monday.

During the press conference Wahab also spoke about the role of judiciary and said that even after 44 years, the Bhutto family is still waiting for justice in the murder of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

“Chief Justice of Pakistan should reconsider the reference filed regarding the Bhutto assassination case,” he contended.

“Shaheed Bhutto was the person whose hard work gave Pakistan a unified constitution; after the fall of Dhaka, he took over the leadership of the nation, freed the prisoners of war from India, got the land back captured by India; started the nuclear program in Pakistan, established the steel mill, Port Qasim, and opened the employment opportunities, but he has not been dispensed justice even after 44 years,” Wahab said.

He said that the most popular Prime Minister of Pakistan fell victim to the controversial verdict of the court. “I will request the Chief Justice to provide us with justice.  It is called a black decision in the judicial history of Pakistan.”

Murtaza Wahab while commenting on the ongoing controversy contended that the job of the Chief Justice is to decide according to the constitution and law. “If the Prime Minister is not the government alone, then the Chief Justice is also not the Supreme Court alone.”

To a question, he said that target killing and street crime is a problem. “The case of Dr. Birbal is very unfortunate and the investigation is going on while the gang involved in the killing of a religious figure has been traced.”

He said the Police need to control the crimes through their intelligence. “If the police do not file FIR, the Sindh government will take action.”

Talking about gas issue, Murtaza Wahab said, “First right is of the province where the gas is discovered. The Sindh government is in constant contact with the Prime Minister on gas issues because we need gas.”

He said that in the past, those who tried to solve the problem were referred to NAB. “When the Chief Minister tried to provide cheap electricity to the people of Karachi, a reference was made to NAB.” (PR)
