A number of citizens took out protest rally and observed token hunger strike outside the Railway Station Dadu on Tuesday against Pakistan Railways for not resuming train service on ML-2 railway track.
The demonstration was led by Seeta Sarjanhar Forum chairman Mashoor Memon, Advocate Ghulam Shabbir Khero, Anwar Ali Laghari, Ali Hassan Loond and people from different walks of life joined the protest demonstration.
Speaking at hunger strike site, Seeta Sarjanhar Forum chairman Mashoor Memon said that due to the flood railway authorities had suspended train service on ML-2. Now Railway PWO has declared that ML-2 railway track is ready for train service but the authorities have failed to resume train service for public of Sindh.
He said that Mohen Jo Daro Express, Khushhal Khan Khatak and Bolan Mail train service were suspended on the Kotri Junction, Dadu Railway Station, Larkana and Jakababad route.
He said that railway authorities have double standards with people of Sindh, as the federal railway minster Khawja Saad Rafique has been facilitating the Punjab neglecting Sindh. He said that 33 train services were suspended at flood time on ML-1 railway track from Karachi to Punjab and those all were resumed since last three months but on ML-2 route train service still remains suspended.
He said that as the train service has not been resumed the people different districts of Sindh are compelled to pay fares of buses and passenger coaches. The laborers working in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur and other cities cannot go for work due to high fares of buses and coaches.
He said that unfortunately our elected MNAs and MPAs have not taken up train service issue in the assembly. He appealed to Sindh High Court Chief Justice to take serious notice of federal minster for his double standard with Sindh people.
Advocate Ghulam Shabbir Khero said that due to continued suspension of train service, railway stations of Larkana, Dadu, Shikarpur and Jacobabad give a desert look. He alleged that in railway colonies across Sindh influential persons have occupied government plots and houses with the help of concerned railway officials.
He said that since the train service was suspended, the employees of railways stations are absent from their duties and due to their absence the precious steel and iron lying at stations was stolen and sold by the thieves.
On that occasion, Anwar Ali Laghari, Ali Hassan Loond and other citizens also spoke and told that they would continue protest till resumption of train services.
