
Azadi Card-Holder Senior Citizens can avail free treatment, discount on medicines, fare etc. District level shelter homes for Senior Citizens are under construction. Implementation of Senior Citizens Welfare Act 2014 reviewed

Buzrag Dost Network (BDN) in collaboration with HelpAge international organized workshop to review implementation of Senior citizens Welfare Act 2014 in Sindh.
During the workshop Ms. Anis Fatima Provincial Coordinator of Senior Citizens Welfare section of Social Welfare Department Government of Sindh, said that provincial government is much more sincere to benefit senior citizens as per law.
“Sindh Government has released budget to NADRA for the issuance of Azadi cards for senior citizens to seek old-age benefits such as 25% concession in prices of medicines, 50% fare discount, free treatments, boarding facility at shelter homes and others,” she said.
She added that District level shelter homes are under construction to facilitate homeless senior citizens.
During the workshops BDN members pointed out grievances with the department for delays in the process. Buzrag Dost Network members Abid Lashari, Nishat Ahmed, Rana Akbar Ali, Khursheed Ahmed, Anis Danish, Ms. Samina, Jamil Junejo, Altaf Khoso and others presented recommendations to the Social Welfare Department for the easy and immediate process of Azadi Cards that senior citizens may seek benefits in their life.
“The department should take immediate efforts for the redressing of grievances of the BDN members,” they urged and assured to play their vital role in the implementation of Senior citizens Welfare Act 2014.
