Out of School Children: NGO Launches Enrollment Drive in Tharparkar

During 14-day drive, Thar Education Alliance will seek help of local councilors for enrollment of children
Mithi, Sindh
Thar Education Alliance (TEA), a non-government organization, launched a drive on Thursday August 1, 2024 in desert district Tharparkar for enrollment of out-of-school children. The drive kicked off in Mithi, the district headquarter town.
The local councilors of 15 wards of Mithi town will also join the enrollment drive. The 14-day drive began in Jagdish Colony and concluded in Gujratai Mohalla on its first day. The community, teachers from various schools, and other stakeholders participated in the drive. Some 25 out of school children were enrolled on first day.
Councilor Khatau Mukhi of Ward No. 11 went door-to-door, appealing to the parents to enroll their children in school. He emphasized that those who could not receive admission at an early age should attend non-formal education centers. This approach, he argued, would help retain children in the education system.
