Pakistan Cricket Board will also rehabilitate 17 cricket grounds of Sindh; Provincial government will provide funds; PCB officials call on Chief Secretary to discuss the holding of School Cricket League.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is going to organize Sindh School Cricket League in the province from February 2022 with the cooperation of Sindh government.

An important meeting regarding for promotion of cricket in the province was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah at Sindh Secretariat.

The meeting was attended by Chairman Sindh Cricket Association Imran Hussain, PCB Director High Performance Nadeem Khan, GM Domestic Cricket PCB Junaid Zia, Secretary Sports Department Akhtar Bugti, Secretary College Education Khalid Haider Shah and all the Divisional Commissioners.

In the first phase, 239 matches would be played in 30 districts of Sindh. The PCB officials told that 240 school level teams and 3850 players will be part of the Sindh School Cricket League.

In the second phase, 24 matches will be played between 30 teams at divisional level. In the third phase, 5 matches will be played between 6 teams in Sindh Championship.

PCB officials said that the kind of talent that has emerged in cricket from Sindh is remarkable and PCB will now go to the district level in search of talent.

Chief Secretary Mumtaz Ali Shah said that Sindh government would provide full support to Pakistan Cricket Board and added that Sindh School Cricket League would cost Rs.27 million which would be provided by Sindh government.

The meeting further decided that the cricket grounds of the province would be rehabilitated by the Sindh government in collaboration with the PCB. In the first phase, 17 grounds would be rehabilitated at a cost of Rs.91 million. The grounds of Karachi, Hyderabad, Badin, Jamshoro, Larkana, Mirpur Khas, Sanghar, Shaheed Benazirabad, Shikarpur and Sukkur will be rehabilitated which will have advance pitch roller, nets, hybrid pitch, dressing rooms and Manual/electric score boards in all these grounds.

PCB Director High Performance Nadeem Khan said that Pakistan Cricket Board has High Performance Units in Lahore, Karachi and Multan and now it will also set up Talent Development Centers in Hyderabad and Sukkur. (PR)
