Sindh Premier League Season 1 Expected in September

 Six teams – Karachi Ghazis, Larkana Challengers, Benazirabad Lals, Mirpurkhaas Tigers, Hyderabad Bahadurs, and Sukkur Patriots, will battle for the title of champions

Sindh Premier League (SPL), a global T20 cricket league aimed at promoting cricket talent from Sindh, particularly the interior regions, unveiled Al Hayat Group as the official Gold Sponsor for its inaugural season expected to commence in second week of September this year.

The signing ceremony took place on Sunday at the main auditorium, Sindh Assembly, with guests and renowned personalities present on the occasion.

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, the Provincial Minister of Local Governments, Housing & Town Planning, in his address expressed his support for the success of the SPL and affirmed the coordination between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and all other stakeholders for the success of SPL.

Arbab Lutfullah, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh on Sports & Youth Affairs, also expressed his complete commitment to the support and welfare of cricket talent in Sindh and offered cricketer Javed Miandad to become the Vice President of SPL. He also suggested SPL to form a board of legendary cricketers from Sindh in helping them out to nurture the talent and bring them to global front.

Abdul Razzaq, former test cricketer and mentor of SPL, emphasized responsibility in nurturing the talent from the interior regions of Sindh. He anticipated the upcoming Sindh Premier League trials as an opportunity to identify and develop promising players.

Javed Miandad expressed his personal desire to contribute to the promotion and betterment of cricket in Sindh and thanked SPL and Al Hayat Group for their instrumental role in realizing this vision.

Jahanzeb Alam, Chairman and CEO of Al Hayat Group, highlighted the transformative power of sports in engaging youth in positive activities. He pledged continued support of Al Hayat Group in promoting such activities as their responsibility.

Sindh Premier League-2President of Sindh Premier League, Arif Malik, shared the league’s future plans, including the Players Development Program. This initiative aims to expose young cricketers from Sindh to international cricket academies, providing them with the platform to refine their skills.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Bushra Ansari, Behroz Sabzwari, Shakeel Siddiqui, Faisal Qureshi, and Shahzad Sheikh. During their speeches, Bushra Ansari, Shakeel Siddiqui, and Faisal Qureshi expressed their delight in witnessing the birth of a cricket league that will provide opportunities for the talented individuals from the interior regions of Sindh.

The event was hosted by the renowned commentator and cricket analyst, Mirza Iqbal Baig, as mater of ceremony and young sports anchor Meesha Imran acted as red carpet host.

The highly anticipated SPL Season 1 is scheduled to commence in the second week of September 2023. Six teams, namely Karachi Ghazis, Larkana Challengers, Benazirabad Lals, Mirpurkhaas Tigers, Hyderabad Bahadurs, and Sukkur Patriots, will battle it out for the prestigious title of champions. (PR)
