Iran strengthens relations with Central Asian States

Iranian trade union delegation also embarks on Central Asian States’ visit starting from Turkmenistan

Islamic Republic of Iran is further strengthening its relations with Central Asian States and in this regard has not only signed a road map with Uzbekistan but its trade union delegation is also visiting the Central Asian States starting from Turkmenistan.

It may be mentioned that the Iran has been under sanctions imposed by USA, since long. The USA had been imposing various sanctions on Iran at different times since 1979, however the Iran continues progressing being a resilient nation.

Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan says it is not violating Western sanctions imposed against Russia.

Uzbekistan and Iran outline key objectives of cooperation

The foreign ministers of Uzbekistan and Iran signed a roadmap between the two state bodies outlining key tasks for bilateral cooperation, as announced by the Uzbekistan Foreign Minister Bahktiyor Saidov in his Telegram channel, Sputnik reports.

The main areas of cooperation, spanning from politics to economic diplomacy, were discussed during the online negotiations.

“We discussed all aspects of our collaboration, from politics to economic diplomacy. We also signed a ‘Roadmap’ between the Foreign Ministries of Uzbekistan and Iran, outlining key tasks for our bilateral relationship that will be jointly addressed,” wrote Bahktiyor Saidov.

Meanwhile, young scholars from Uzbekistan will undergo an internship in Iran. This was agreed upon by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of Uzbekistan and the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization of Iran (AREEO).

Delegation of trade unions of Iran started its visit to Central Asia from Turkmenistan

The head of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Iran, Ali Reza Mahjoubi, held talks with his Turkmen colleagues in Ashgabat to discuss the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in relevant areas, as well as the exchange of experiences between the trade unions of the two countries, reported Orient.tm.

img_4852.730x0The visit of the Iranian delegation led by Mahjoubi took place within the framework of a Central Asian tour, the main goal of which is to establish strong contacts with the trade unions of the region’s countries and to exchange opinions on issues of mutual interest, as reported by the newspaper “Turkmenistan.”

The head of the Iranian delegation thanked the Turkmen side for their hospitality and expressed hope for further cooperation. During the three-day visit to Turkmenistan, delegates from the neighboring country visited the museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan, the National Museum of Turkmen Carpet, and the State Historical and Cultural Reserve “Nisa.”

Comprehensive and productive negotiations were held with representatives of the National Center of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan. It is expected that the delegation from the Confederation of Trade Unions of Iran will visit other Central Asian countries by September 14, 2023.

Kyrgyzstan says it did not violate Western sanctions against Russia

Kyrgyzstan is not violating Western sanctions imposed against Russia, stated the Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Jeenbek Kulubaev, in an interview with the media corporation Deutsche Welle, Regnum reports.

“I can unequivocally confirm that we have never violated sanctions and will not violate them. We will adhere to the agreements we have with our Western partners,” the minister’s words were quoted by the publication.

He also noted that no one can prohibit bilateral trade with China, Russia, or other CIS countries.

img_4853.730x0“As a member of the Kyrgyzstan government, I can officially state that we have never violated sanctions,” he clarified.

The diplomat refuted information claiming that Kyrgyzstan’s trade turnover with Russia and other CIS countries has increased several times recently.

“We do have some growth, but I’ve never heard of 240%, for example. We have our own statistical data. And we believe that trade with Russia and other CIS countries is proceeding at the level of previous years,” Kulubaev added.

Kulubaev highlighted that Kyrgyzstan periodically engages with the United States on the issue of anti-Russian sanctions. He noted that the country’s authorities advocate for resolving the situation around Ukraine through negotiations.
