Social Media has positive as well as negative aspects – Training Workshop held at Shah Latif University

A one-day training workshop on “The Role of Social Media for Social Change” was held at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur on Saturday.

The workshop was jointly organized by the Bhittai Social Watch & Advocacy (BSWA), Khairpur, Department of Media & Communication Studies, Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), Sukkur and Young Peace Development Corp. (YPDC). Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur presided over the workshop.

Talking to the participants, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said that the use of social media is imperative for the socio-economic change of the society.

Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences remarked that there are positive as well as negative aspects of the social media. “It is the need of the time to utilize the all gadgets for positive change for development of the state, progress and for peace narrative.”

Sajjad Hussain Bhatti, Executive Producer 92 News shed light on the theme of the workshop. He said that the social media can play its role for civic education, women empowerment, diversity and entrepreneurship.

Khadim Hussain Mirani, Executive Director BSWA and Jameel Ahmed Soomro, Station Director, APP, Sukkur also spoke.

Dr. Ali Raza Lashari, In-charge Students Societies Centre conducted the proceedings of the workshop. The certificates were distributed among the participants. Fozia Hanif, Project Manager BSWA and large number of students attended the workshop.
