British Commonwealth Office intends to support Sindh’s education sector

Sardar Shah says there was no shortage of teachers in the schools of Sindh as the provincial government had recruited 46000 teachers on merit.

A delegation of British High Commission Islamabad called on Sindh Education and Culture Minister Syed Sardar Shah on Wednesday here at his office and discussed various matters related to education including the rehabilitation of schools destroyed in floods and restoration of teaching process.

The delegation was headed by Ms. Jo Moir, Development Director of the British High Commission Islamabad.

Sindh Education Minister informed the delegation about the damages caused by flood challenges faced by the Sindh Education Department.

Sardar Shah informed the delegation that work was being done in two phases to restore the affected schools of the province. He stated that in the first phase the teaching process has initially been restored in the shelter schools and in the second phase the Sindh Government is rehabilitating the damaged school infrastructure.

He further informed the delegation that there was no shortage of teachers in the schools of Sindh as the provincial government had recruited 46000 teachers on merit through a transparent manner. He informed the delegation that they were in a process to change the traditional model of teaching with modern teaching techniques with the help of technology which will be a result oriented teaching method.

British delegation informed that the British Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) of Great Britain has earmarked funds for the development of various sectors in Pakistan. She also highlighted that the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) intends to support the education sector in Sindh.

Minister of Education and Culture presented traditional gift of Sindhi Ajrak and books to the delegation. (PR)
